Registration

Preregistration ends on Wednesday, June 8. If the men's or women's event has less than 6 entries, it will be run as a mixed event in the men's time slot. Individual mixed events with fewer than 6 entries will be canceled.

Fees:

Fencers must pay the administration fee, plus event fees for each event they are entering.
  • $20 administration fee (all individual registrants pay this once; admin fee is doubled for late registrants)
  • $25 sanctioned event fee (Cadet, Junior, and Senior individual events - eligible for CFF points)
  • $15 unsanctioned event fee (Y12, Y14, Veteran, Novice events)
  • $30 per team

Example: if a fencer is entering Y14 and Cadet, they pay $20 admin fee + $15 Y14 event fee + $25 cadet event fee = $60.

Fees are payable at check-in.

Entry Rules

All Events

The championships are an open competition. However, you must be a member in good standing of a fencing association, such as:
  • BC Fencing Association
  • other provincial association associated with the Canadian Fencing Federation
  • USFA
  • FIE international license
Fencers must wear regulation uniforms, including breeches and plastron, in order to compete at all events.

Age Restrictions
CategoryBirth Year
Y-12 1998 or later
Y-14 1996 or later
Cadet 1994 or later
Junior 1991 or later
Veteran 1970 or earlier

Foil

Electric bibs are required for sanctioned events only - senior, junior, and cadet. Non-sanctioned events (Y-12, Y-14, Novice, Veteran, and Team) do not require electric bibs.

Novice

Fencers who have competed before the Provincial Championships must have started fencing no earlier than 2010, or have no more than 1 year experience. Fencers who have never competed before must have started fencing no earlier than 2009, or have no more than 2 years experience. Fencers who are under 15 years of age must have started fencing no earlier than 2008, or have no more than 3 years experience.

Team

Teams can be mixed. Teams will be seeded based on the results of the senior competition.

NOTE: due to time and space limitations, team events will be restricted to 8 teams. Priority is given to:
  • club "A" teams, in first-come-first-served order (register early to get priority)
  • mixed teams, made up of fencers from clubs that cannot put together a complete club team
  • club "B" teams (in same priority as above)
Teams are seeded directly into a double-elimination tableau. This is the same as a DE tableau, but if you lose in the round of 8 or 4, you get a second match to determine final position. For example, if you are seeded 6th, and lose your first match, then you move to the 2nd round in the 5th-8th tableau, and fence against 7th place. If there are 8 teams, every team will get at least two team matches.
